  • Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 4X4 - 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Bought this 4X4 Jeep in 2005 with 55,000 miles. Loved it when I bought it but started having problems about 6 months later. Had to replace output speed sensor, water pump, security sensor, door lock actuators, door checks, cvt boots, radiator sensor all under 75,000 miles. Gas mileage is terrible for a 6 cylinder averaging about 13 mpg. AC is ice cold and heat works very well and quick. Loved the outside temperature gauge with compass, average mpg, and fuel range. Very comfortable and roomy and fun to drive. Just sold it with 85,000 miles. Good fun vehicle if you have a warranty and dont have to worry about these problems.

  • MORE TROUBLE THAN ITS WORTH! - 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Ive had nothing but trouble with rotors, and axle repairs. Jeep refuses to fix these problems and see them as defects. I have had rotors replace 2x and rear and front axle work!! It was a lemon from the get go and they didnt do anything. The first 2 rotor(both done at less than 12,000 miles!) repairs were covered under warranty along with the rear differential work. More recently i had new rotors(again!) and a front axle job!! Please save your money and buy something other than a gr cherokee!! Save yourself the time, money and stress!!

  • Great Investment! - 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Purchased this car used in 1999 - had about 127,000 miles on it. Ive got 175,000 now and Im making the first major repair. Replaced the radiator last year, it was cheap and easy - this year it needs a new motor. Outside of that, Im a storm chaser and have had this poor Jeep at 100+mph on dirt back roads in heavy rains and hail and it is the most amazing vehicle Ive ever owned. I also have family through the state and have traveled frequently - great gas mileage, both city and highway and the comfort of this car is amazing. Its flexibility is great too - having added a laptop and some other components for my storm chasing. Just a great great car and Ill buy another and another!

  • Great vehicle, but high maintenance - 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee

I special ordered this SUV in 1999. It is so comfortable and wonderful to drive. Fortunately, however, I purchased an extended warranty in 2002. There have been air conditioning problems. The starter went out at 42,000 miles. Occasionally, there is a strange noise from the right rear when cornering. There have been other minor problems. The rear end replacement issue was brought up with my Jeep. The dealer had replaced some others but apparently had done so unnecessarily. Bottom line: yes it is worth the aggravation and yes I would buy it again.

  • Not what I expected - 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee

I purchased my Jeep last January. After owning the Jeep for 11 months I am in the process of looking for another Ford. Wheel bearings are gone, howling from either a idler pulley or alternator ($250 for a rebuilt), transmission slipping terribly when it get below 40 degrees F, fogging headlight, leaking tailgate at both the window and gate seal, squeaks and rattles. I have 91K on it now and purchased it with 71K. I have no faith in this vehicle. If you are considering one, get rid of it before 100K. Friend that works for Chrysler said allmost all Jeep Grands need a tranny rebuild then. Wish I had known, my first and last Damlier Chrysler vehicle.

  • Not a bad SUV - 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee

I bought this Jeep used a year ago, It had 23000 miles on it and now has 40000. I have had no major problems, some minor ones, but none of the brake problems that you hear of. I have the original tires on that need to be replaced. Gas milage is ok for a SUV 20 on the hwy and 14 in the city. I would buy another one

  • JGC Brakes break my heart - 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee
    By -

With 80K miles on my 99 JGC Im now looking at my 5th front end brake job. Warped rotors have been turned, turned again, and replaced with after-market rotors. Still going bad after just a few thousand miles. Otherwise, its been a fun vehicle - plenty of class and comfort. Just wish my brakes didnt break my heart.

  • Worst of the Jeeps - 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee
    By -

After having 3 cherokee vehicles this is by far the worst. The power windows failed 3 times, there is a sensor for the transfer case that has failed several times giving you a hard shift change at about 20 miles(and I mean hard!!!). The cd changer skips on most of the disks at between tracks 6 and 8 and the driver rear mirror fails to remember its position frequently thus having to readjust almost daily. This would not be so bad if the dealer had taken care of reparing it but they did not time after time just gave excuses that the vehicle did not failed during their tests.

  • Brakes....Brakes....Brakes - 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee
    By -

I bought this car when it was redesigned. I should have known not to buy a chrysler product. Repair costs have totaled over $3,000 in less then 2.5 years. The rotor and brake pads have been replaced and resurface a total of 6 times and the Front and Rear Ball bearings replaced recently for a loud whining sound. Sick of taking it. Worst Quality. No Customer service.

  • KIMS JEEP - 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee

I WISH I HAD ANOTHER SET OF SEAT IN THE BACK. OTHER THAN THAT, I LOVE THE LOOK AND THE RIDE OTHER THAN THE ROAD NOISE..THE ONLY REAL PROBLEM WE ARE EXPERIENCING IS THE RUBBER AROUND THE WINDOWS ARE SHRINKING AWAY FROM THE JEEPS EXTERIER..
